Cunard Queen Mary 2 ...tasting the BUFFET.... is it good? We check it out!
Expensive and out of the reach of us plebs.
The 747 has the hump so the Captain 🧑✈️ can sit on wallet 🪪
The even allowed you to smoke? oh wow
They still have airplanes where rich people dress like that. They are called private jets. While the rest of us our flying economy which is basically a bus with wings.
Homogeneous culture makes life simpler with less conflict. Flying in the 50’s was an elegant, lofty experience. Great video, thank you.
We were really blessed to be raised in that amazing era no one before us or after us will ever experience what we had. and for that I thank God ... we loved and appreciated it not this idiotic generation what a wast
Travel Wold Airlines TWA was amassing
They were healthier, happier and a lot more smarter then the Idiots with ......computers..... what a fucken Joke
Those were the years ......God i missed them.
Such an amazing video. Thank you so much sir.
You're very welcome!
Even in first class now people come in hoodies and flip-flops and bad manners. I often wonder how they even get into first class, whether they're upgraded or have accumulated free miles. Its kind of unfair when we pay full price and have to sit with others that belong on the Greyhound bus instead
I remember flying with my parents in the 60s It was so nice. I really dislike flying now and drove across the country rather than fly to visit relatives.
Sorry, but the golden age of flying was when we had 3 airplanes in the family in the 1980s 😂 #KingAir hell yeah, they’ll get ya th’air 🎉 🎊 ❤ #TACAir
In the 80s everything was included except drinks and shore excursions. A much simpler time before Cruise Lines started acting like budget airlines and charging for certain components separately.
Smoking section.....real food...didnt treat ya like a terrorist. Clean...clean ...all food and drinks free....
Ridiculous. 90% of what is shown in this piece is NOT cruising. It shows how life on the liners was on line voyages
When the only people who could afford to see the world were the rich and wealthy.
The last (AND I DO MEAN THE LAST) time I flew (2017) it was to Phoenix and someone's miserable little rodent screamed the ENTIRE flight! As we were taxiing to the terminal the spawns sperm donor said, “some people’s kids, huh? huh, huh, huh, huh.” If not for facing arrest, most everyone on the plane would have beat the snot out of him.
Personally, I’m super glad I can travel wearing my sweatpants and a tshirt. 🙂
I've been a FA for 39 years, and still wear the same size 4 uniform I started in. Passengers wore suits, ties and cuff links in 1985. Women looked glamourous. No one was rude. Now, most men show up dressed like little boys, in shorts and baseball caps. Young ladies wear leggings en masse, or worse, what looks like their pyjamas. And passengers were a LOT thinner then. Why do so 75% forget to say, "Please" when asking for their beverages/meals? I sail on Queen Elizabeth and QM2 every chance I get, and I thank Cunard for continuing the tradition of what travelling in style once looked like.
Absolutely LOVED the video!! Fantastic that you included all that old stock footage!. Priceless!.. even when i flew Delta on my senior class trip in 1988( from Detroit to Los Angeles) there were still actual plastic trays, bowls cups and real silverware!, and the meal was a main course, with two sides roll and butter and a "glass" which was a round plastic cup with a stemmed foot. So glad i got to experience that!. Needless to say, i was SORELY disappointed after that!. Lol .. But a small glimpse of the glory that was. Definitely subbed!! 🛫 Ready for my next trip, Captain!!. ❤
Welcome Aboard 🫡. Next video coming this weekend. This time taking a look at Cruising... in the weird, wonderful and wacky 1970s and 80s!
@@ritzytravelguide Aye Aye, Captain!!. Can't wait!. 🫡🥂
This was before the FDA became hugely corrupt for money and started allowing poison to be put in our food that European countries banned. Over 1000 cancer causing obesity causing ingredients are in our food. Processed food became a staple because moms decided that slaving away for a boss was better than raising their own children.
Ah. Before people dressed like slobs in sweats and yoga pants to go around the world.
I remember flying with my parents in the 60s, 70s and 80s. We always dressed up like we were going to church.
I was there flying since the 50s
Great to hear!
Great video and really honest
Thank you!
@@ritzytravelguide I am about to do a taster cruise on this Cruise ship I am not really a drinker do you have any drink package recommendations or should I just pay as I go MSC seem to have a few marketing tricks lol 🤣
@gavinnaylor1428 if you're not a heavy drinker I wouldn't by the package. Pay as you go on MSC is reasonably priced
Oh WOW!! Why couldn't they let well enough alone!! Housing in the 50s was great! The kitchen especially!! I believe that every aspect of life during the 50s was way better than it is now!! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Shocking that after 6 minutes of talking about Ephesus you failed to mention that it was a Greek city built by the ancient Greeks ages before the Romans arrived (and a full millennium before the Turks occupied it). Other than that, a good video. Just subbed.
Thanks for filling in the gaps, that's appreciated
Excellent. Well put together and presented. 👍
Many thanks!
People not crammed in like sardines today with no leg room.
Not such a good time for so-called minorities👎🏽
i just love it. In this channel I don't have to put up with the following crass, --"oh my god", --"legit", --a "though" at the end of each sentence, --"bro", or broisms..
Trying to avoid those!
“Would you hare liked this? To us it might seem a bit claustrophobia………” Clearly a man who has never been in the back of an Air Asia X long haul flight - this is positively palatial in comparison. Great video!
Strangely enough I have been on Air Asia X 🤣.... not to be recommended!
True as world looters, theifs UK+Europe looted poor simple nations in Asia, Africa and enjoyed wine and dine both on land and on Air. Good a now time cycle will make them pay all their sins
Fun! THE DC-7 ['57] FROM NY WEST HAD AN ENGINE FIRE- WE TURNED BK TO NY AND LET THE FUEL OUT OF THAT WING. FUN FOR A KID [MY STEPMOTHER FREAKED].
planes!!
Flown 1st class on all major American carriers. Other than the bigger seats, service sux.
Amazing! Thnak you for all your hard work.
You're welcome, so glad you enjoyed it!
Wish ❤we could time travel 🧭🧳
I just want to cry- what an elegant era. everything totally sucks now.
A man could work 1 job and support his wife and kids, drive a nice car, have a nice house. In 1962 the powers that be basically attacked the family , took prayer out of schools, created women's lib to make the husband and wife have to work and pay taxes. It was literally designed to break apart the family. Tavistock used music to drastically change society in a decade. Went from short haircuts and suits to long hair men, hippies and drugs. All by design
I loved my days with Pan Am - not only got to see the world, but got paid nicely for it!!!
Apparently, there was no such thing as air turbulence back then. Can you imagine those food carts flying around?
A lot better than now
まるでアメリカには白人しかいないかのような映像だ。
The British aero-industry had this hilariously stupid and arrogant idea that flying should be an exclusive and luxorious experience for passengers. Thankfully they were punished for their ridiculous arrogance. They all went bankrupt - punished and outcompeted by the Americans and the French who paid more respect to the needs of the passengers who just wanted to go from A to B, fast and cheap.
Looks exactly like Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey. He should have merged his future prediction with A Clockwork Orange with multi culti thrown in.
A retired airline mechanic that I knew told me that back in the smoking period, they had to clean the outflow valves frequently. These are the openings in the fuselage that have small doors that open and close electrically in order to maintain a constant 8.6 psi differential in the cabin at altitude. Air is compressed by the engines and "bled" off, run through air conditioners, and then pumped into the cabin to create the pressurization. Due to smoking, the outflow valves in time would become coated with tar, which looked like animal waste, smelled worse, and literally had to be scraped off with a putty knife. Pressurization problems were one of the main reasons that flights were delayed back then. Flying back then? No thanx!
Smoking, men's only flights, outrageous government dictated pricing.... Today flying is kind of a bitch, but it was the same back then. If you could afford it!
My mother didn’t leave the house without “putting her face on”, wearing a nice hat(after doing her hair), a pretty dress. We always ate meals together at the table. We “set” the table.
